I am very disappointed as I couldn't fix the storage 4GB. When I tried to copy some music via pc windows explorer, it blocked and so I restarted the PC, then access to memory 4GB was not possible via USB connection. Then I tried to format the same way of formating a flash memory... and everything gone!
I copied the hotfix file into the device via activsync file explorer but when I click on setup it shows this error message: "Incorrect Device, Please use the correct device to install this hotfix program". I can't understand this, I have HTC Diamond (P3700), so what's wrong??

Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: 4GB Internal storage gone

It's an .exe file, so you have to run it on your computer. Connect via active sync and try running the hotfix .exe on your computer and you should be good to go.

Re: 4GB Internal storage gone

Thanks for the reply, but when I try to run the file from my computer it says "... is not a valid Win32 application".
From the device when I click it shows a screen with two buttons "Setup" and "Cancel" and the message is "Tap setup to install" and when I tap is says "Incorrect device"!!

Thanks again for your help.

Are you with sprint? If so here...
Sprint Touch Diamond Internal Storage HotFix Release Date: 2008-11-19 Category: ROM Upgrade

After performing a Hard Reset on the device, the Internal Storage option may disappear from the device. This HotFix will provide a tool to recover the Internal Storage so that it can be used again. Installation Instructions:
1. Download the Internal Storage HotFix 1.0 file to your PC.
2. Connect your Sprint Touch Diamond to your PC via ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center.
3. Copy the Internal Storage HotFix file to your device using Explore (ActiveSync) or Manage Device > File Explorer (Windows Mobile Device Center).
4. Navigate to the Internal Storage HotFix file on your device and tap on it to run the application.
5. Tap Setup to install the HotFix
6. After installation is complete, tap OK to reboot your device.
7. Go to Start > Settings > System Tab > Clear Storage and execute the Repair and Format Internal Storage option using the Clear Storage utility.

Note: Please be careful to select the Repair and Format Internal Storage option only. Selecting the Clear Storage option or Clear Storage and Format Internal Storage option will return your device back to factory settings.

Re: 4GB Internal storage gone

Hi Superman369,

You know I have bought a HTC Touch Diamond (P3700) via ebay. I can not know what's different with "Sprint".
So I could to up to step 4, then when I tap on the setup button it says "Incorrect Device"!! It is very disappointing if I can't back the 4GB storage of my HTC Diamond.

Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
JE

ICEM/\N to the rescue...lol....here should be the solution for you below...follow my instructions to the "T."

-reformat the internal storage with your computer. (hook up the phone to the computer and select "hard drive" rather than "ActiveSync", right click on the drive letter that appears and select Format.

This only works "smoothly" with Vista operating computers for some reason because I have heard that with windows XP operating computers the PC would just keep locking up and giving errors. But some people have had luck with XP operating computers. (BTW - quick format will not work and you want to format it as FAT32)

Now just for anyone that wants to know why this keeps happening is because the issue is that the internal card is being erased but not reformatting again...the hotfix works for Sprint devices but does according to this AMJ member it is not working on his GSM device, so this should fix the issue for you...post results within this thread!

and here are some more detailed instructions for those not computer savy or who have issues and no success with my instructions above...lol:

1. connect your phone to the pc and choose the disk drive option instead of active sync. Open the computer folder and u should see only one option as as external drive or something like it.

2. right click on the folder and see it's properties.

3. U should be able to see that it still has its 3.7g memory showing. If not u will see it on the next topic.

4. Right click on the storage folder and choose the option FORMAT.

5. U will do the full format of that storage not the quick one. So far u should see on the format window that the 3.7 g is there right?

6. If not disconnect the phone and connect to the pc again till u see it.

7. Once u start formating it will take about 10 to 15 min to finish. Don't touch your phone till it ends, just leave it connected to the pc.

8. Once it is done...go to check where u usually saw the NOT INSTALLED stupid message and find out that the 4g is back. It should be ,if not soft reset your phone.

9. Its not over yet. It will show internal memory 2 now and on the device information on your phone it still not reconize the 4g on the internal storage list on HARDWARE. thats ok for now.

9.5 This below step may not be necessary depending on whether ur issue is fixed by now...

10. Now u will perform the HARD RESET on your phone using the clear storage option on settings. Pick the Clear storage and format internal storage option before typing 1234. now once u started the hard reset it shows a quick error message as unable to locate storage or something like it. Don't worry about it. Once the phone start up again go to the device information and see it is back to normal and there is not internal storage2 anymore ,only internal storage. Now u are back in business again.I hope this information helped u!

yep...lol, ur screwed when it comes to your memory...unless you were smart enough to back it up on pc...which you should do with the diamond since there is no expandable memory card you can rely on like the wonderful Touch Pro...

Hey,
Does anyone have the internal storage hotfix exe that they can post? The link on HTC's website isn't working. Unfortunately my phone won't connect through USB, (have tried every setting on the phone) three different computers (XP and Vista) and two different cables. I am able to access files off of my computer through IE, downloaded the latest ROM, but phone doesn't have enough memory to run the file. I figure I need to load the internal hotfix then update the ROM, so if anyone has the file they can post or send I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Jim

sorry we dont do any special email services like sending programs...but if you read through the thread the file is already attached..

Thanks PuertoRicoBlack... not sure how I missed it, but obvioulsy did, the fix worked great and was able to get to the latest ROM.

I had to get my motherboard replaced in the end. Just got my phone back today. It's nice to get the space back and now I can start flashing some new roms onto the phone and maybe mess around with some panoramic backgrounds.

I just want to say my inability to resurrect my 4GB has nothing to do with you guys, you were all really helpful and knowledgeable. Think I'm too much of a noob.

Thanks to all that helped!
