Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM61 ROMS

I thought so.....but it doesnt come with Sprint Navigation and I couldn't get the Garmin to work.....that could be that I'm just not sure how to get the Garmin to work....Idk. I posted in that thread but nobody responded

Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM61 ROMS

I have NAV IGO 8.3.xx and using GPS Viewer and QickGPS that I downloaded from xda developer also did the registry hack posted in thsi forum on my Verizon xv6800 mogule and finally got my app to say connected to GPS. I made sure that my phone has all of the propper setting for the gps in the start/settting/system/external gps plus in start/setting/phone I shave it set to location on.

However when I try a set a start and destination it tells me that it is waiting for gps signal but I am in the house since it is late and no need to go outside now. Is it giving me that message because I am in the house or is there something else I need to do. Please advise.

PS I am using the HTC WM 6.1 update not any custom roms. But as mention the apps says gps is connected but when setting for direction it says waiting for gps but I am inside the house.

that may very likely be the problem.....bein inside the house...mine does that everynow and then, depending which part of my house i am at....it would only take a lil longer to locate me but eventually it would.....idk i'd say try tomorrow when you can go outside and see if it works then

Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM61 ROMS

It's a pain the azz but the Valhalla hack to unlock a Verizon phones and the reg edit does work I am able to lock on a GPS signal in 5-10 seconds and it now works great. Gonna take a while but it does work...

Re: Enabling A-GPS (Assisted GPS) on WM61 ROMS

OK, 2 more things. Go in and edit the registry, if your uncomfortable doing this I suggest sending a PM to Dash to use his services. If you are felling a little foggy and want to jump. Do a search in the reg and for to GPSMode and change the value to 4 from 2. Next and this is the gooch! Go to external GPS in the setup and change the program com port to 8, then the hardware port to 4, and the baud to 38400, and finally make sure it is checked to allow windows to manage your GPS. You will be amazed on how fast the response time will be. If it does nothing for you it is easy to switch back but it will. I went from a soft restart it took 2-3 min to get a solid lock, down to 6-10 seconds for a full 3D lock. Really that impressive. This is all info I have been digging up in an OCD fit over the past 2 weeks and this is the shit distilled from the mountains of posts out there.
Good luck!

Was just wondering if there was any wy of enabling the GPS on the HTC touch>?

I found this post and also this link and was wondering how safe the alltell ROM is and what changes it will make to my phone? Basically I want the GPS without changing the basics of the phone.

ok no clue what you are talking about... you have a sprint vogue aka touch correct? if so what rom are you running on it currently? is it stock? if so you will have to update to the newest sprint if you want to stay stock to enable the gps on your device... or you could go custom rom and have it enabled anyways... take a look at my flashing tutorial below in my signature and that should clear some more up for you as well. also when you boot the phone up and at the htc screen you hasve red writing on the bottom right hand corner.... what does it say next to the R: there?
